Why does the energy certificate matter?
For new buildings, the certificate demonstrates calculated energy performance. For renovations, a comparison of the existing and planned building can show improvements from insulation, replacement windows or a new heating system.
The rules depend on the federal state
Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland have different subsidy programmes, submission rules and deadlines. A small individual measure may require less documentation than a comprehensive thermal renovation. Environmental indicators such as OI3 may also be relevant in certain schemes.
Preparing the application
Useful starting documents include building plans, a description of the project, construction details and heating information. For renovations, planned measures should be clear. Before commissioning calculations, it is worth confirming the specific subsidy route.
